Long before Michael was given the opportunity to host his first writers round, as he was falling asleep one night, he began dreaming about a reality show concept.  This show would be about the crazy lives and struggles of the Nashville songwriters.  It would be called Livin’ The Write Life.  

In January 2023, Michael was offered an opportunity to do a once a month takeover at Big Jimmy’s on 2nd Avenue.   Big Jimmy’s was known as a nice little spot to grab a good burger.  It was not known for its entertainment and 2nd Avenue didn’t have the foot traffic that Broadway had.  Let’s just say that his friends weren’t the most excited about driving downtown, paying to park, and possibly playing to no one!

They were able to negotiate discount parking and a free meal for performers.  Several of Michael’s friends agreed to play and Livin’ The Write Life was born.  Michael would stand on the sidewalk and invite people in.  “Are you guys tired of the same covers over and over?  Come in and see something truly authentic Nashville!”

Many would look at him like he was crazy, but several people would come in. Most would stay, and thank him after.  “This was amazing!  The favorite part of our trip so far!”, is what he would hear often. 

At that point, he knew he was building something special.  Other venues began taking notice and Livin’ The Write Life has now grown into one of the world’s premier writers rounds.   It has grown to over 500 different artists and writers, 20 or more shows per month, and a national tour.  LTWL has hosted over 25 #1 hit writers, and some of the best up and coming talent in the world.  

Livin’ The Write Life created a network of songwriters and artists, commonly referred to as “The Tribe”, that supports each other and believes in team.
